Ahuimanu Fun Fair 2003
Ahuimanu was definitely the place to be on Saturday September 20th. Hosting its annual Fun Fair, Ahuimanu Elementary school grounds became the center of attraction for the students and the community of Ahuimanu. Sponsored by the school 'Ohana and organized by Mrs. Ailyn Lum, this fundraising event brings together teachers, faculty, parents, alumnae, entertainers, and local talent to create a fun and exciting day for all.

With the Boy Scouts, Cub Pack 117, and the Girl SCouts Troop 1018 kicking off the ceremonies and the Opening Chant by Hula Keola Ka'uhane and the King Intermediate Hawaii'ian Dance Group to bring in the good spirits, it was nothing but fun and games for the rest of the day. DJ Robbie Ray started to bring the house down in the school cafeteria and the musical performances by the King Intermediate Band, the Pride Reggae Rhythm band just rode in on his waves. Along with auctions and a Hulu Hoop competition, Inline dancing and more Hula performances by Kuhai Halau O Kaleihua Pa Olapa Kahiko added more entertainment value to the Fun Fair.

Along with the Rock climbing wall and Mr. Jenkin's incredible dunking machine, batting cages joined the outside activities and were clearly a big hit. Each of the grade levels had their own booths of games with tons of prizes and the parking lot was full of crafts and boxcar racing. Koala Moa chicken, fried rice from Cub Pack 117, shave ice, malasadas, andagi, and cotton candy kept the energy up so that everyone could focus on enjoying the rides and games. The Lei of Aloha sponsored by the fourth grade was a big hit. They ran out of prizes and finished early.

An event like this takes an enormous amount of effort by so many people. Ahuimanu would like to Thank all the Teachers, faculty, parent volunteers, entertainers, and particpants for supporting the Fun Fair, but a Big Mahalo goes to Mrs. Ailyn Lum for putting this Fun Fair together, which is the tenth year that she has organized it.

It is evident that Ahuimanu Elementary School Fun Fair has become a milestone, and a constant in the community of Kahaluu. We look forward to your support, participation, and energy next year. Thank you.

An Ahuimanu Fun Fair is not complete without...
