b. SCC
Lois shared the Academic and Financial Plan. She mentioned that it was a tremendous undertaking, which turned out quite well. They were able to put together a high quality product in less than a month. Normally, it would take many months to put together such a report.
Lois will speak to contacts to find more monies for Ahuimanu. Anne Marie suggested that the final approved Academic and Financial Plan be posted on the Ahuimanu website.
e. Student Council
Anne Marie reported that student council members were very involved with the Traffic Pattern Improvement Project. They rolled up their sleeves and contributed wherever they could to help make it work. They directed traffic, took pictures of good drivers and violators alike.
Valzey mentioned that the crosswalk out on Hui-Iwa and Hui-Aeko could be repainted. She noticed that while using the crosswalk, it is not very visible and is a safety hazard for the children.
l. Administration
Anne Marie stated the report cards were distributed Tuesday. She is looking forward to receiving comments and feedback on the new format.
Teachers are reviewing their pacing calendars to see where revisions are needed in preparation for the HSA and SAT-10 exams.
She shared the wonderful improvements made by the Traffic Committee. Parents are getting into the new routine quite well. While there is some resistance, it is turning out pretty well. Most parents are very supportive because they recognize that the bottom line is student safety.
Major revisions are being made to Ahuimanu's Emergency Plans. Depending on the heighten level of the crisis, evacuation procedures have been changed.
Monday, January 23, 2006 is Professional Collaboration Day (PC). All certificated staff and EAs are to report to Castle High School from 8:00 - 11:15 a.m.
Next PC day will be held on February 24, 2006. Nancy Skerritt will be covering Reading Comprehension - the new protocol to improve student reading comprehension.
eSIS Teacher training will begin mid-February.
Junior Kindergarten - all children born from August 2 - December 31 will be in Junior Kindergarten at registration.
She spoke briefly on the Academic and Financial Plan status. The plan has been reviewed by DOE experts. A final copy is expected soon.
The Library is getting a new coat of paint by the Army Corp of Engineers and the DOE.
Portable P4 has been leaking for as long as Anne Marie can remember. But it has finally been re-roofed.
Anne Marie reminded Ohana that they should get their articles in to the Kani Kolea.
She also put out a call that the school is in desperate need of recess supervisors and a school crossing guard.
Anne Marie submitted two requests:
1) : Requesting $XX.XX to cover CPAC admission to all K-6 Ahuimanu students. Teachers receive complementary admission.
Yvonne moved and Robert seconded that the motion be approved. Motion was passed unanimously
2) : Teachers are requesting $XX.XX for laptop computers. These laptops will give teachers more flexibility to perform their work in conducive environments.
Lois moved and Carla seconded that the motion be approved. Motion was passed unanimously.
